When I was about five or six I was on the a ship the "USS Leilonie sailing from Hawaii too the mainland. Marie Wilson sat behind me in the theater room as my father and I watched her on the big screen, she was so very kind to speak to us after the show and I met her again as the young girls on board practiced the hula for a show on board. She kept commenting on my talent and invited me to dine with her at the Captain's table. She told me I could be the next Shirley Temple; wow did that ever inspire me! She later took me shopping and bought me a charm bracelet that spelled the name of the ship, (it was my most prized possession) she told me to never forget her and when I grew up to visit her in Hollywood as she tried to talk with my parents about letting her manage me as she believed I could be a very big star some day. She died when I was around twenty; I'm now fifty eight but still feel like that little girl looking up at her with such adoration in my heart. I've often thought about her thru the years and what my life would have been like if I had the blessings of my parents ( Who didn't like the idea at all ) I never got to visit her and fulfill my dream of going to Hollywood. She was the most beautiful person inside and out and the high light of my life; she will live forever in my thoughts and dreams. . In loving memory of a true star.
Sincerely,
Patricia (Webb) Shockley

Thanks for visiting my site dedicated to the beautiful actresses of the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
I encourage everyone to write a little message or comment on Marie Wilson in order
to keep the memory of these beautiful actresses alive and to let everyone experience them when they were young.
